Update
2002:
Figures from the Department for
Education and Skills show that the number of men in schools continued
to
fall over the past five years.
In 2002 there were only 26,600 male teachers in primary schools,
compared to 142,400 women. Teachers' leaders said "the
gender imbalance was not responsible for the profession losing
its power".
